From September 24-26, 2024, the AmChams in Europe (ACE) network hosted its annual Best Practice Sharing Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. AmCham Germany’s General Manager Daniel Andrich and Thomas Henneberg, Head of Department, Strategic Partnerships, Regional Coordination & Events, took part in the conference, together with more than 50 other European leaders from the ACE network.
This year’s annual meet-up, hosted by AmCham Portugal, provided a forum for discussions about best practices among the network’s members and how to amplify its collective voice on the international stage. The conference’s agenda also included meetings with high-level leaders from business and politics.
As Daniel Andrich, General Manager of AmCham Germany and ACE ExCo Member-At-Large, states: “AmCham Germany is proud to be a part of the AmChams in Europe (ACE) network. ACE will continue to represent the voice of American and European businesses and provide a platform to discuss the most pressing trade and investment issues.”
One of this week’s many highlights in Lisbon was a panel discussion on cross-border perspectives at the Transatlantic Business Summit on September 24, 2024, organized by AmCham Portugal, with our General Manager Daniel Andrich as well as Elias Spirtounias, Executive Director of the American - Hellenic Chamber of Commerce; Peter Dahlen, Managing Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Sweden; and moderator Ajsa Vodnik, CEO, AmCham Slovenia & Chair, AmChams in Europe network. “In times of growing geopolitical tension, economic uncertainty and technological disruption, we need more – not less – cooperation,” says Daniel Andrich in this regard. “To ensure the future competitiveness of Germany and Europe, we must deepen U.S.-EU trade and investment relations on the basis of our shared transatlantic values.”
At the Museum of Electricity, the group also heard from António Martins da Costa, President of AmCham Portugal, about Europe’s path to carbon neutrality and Portugal’s impressive track record in transforming its economy toward green energy.
Established in 1963, AmChams in Europe is the umbrella organization representing 50 American Chambers of Commerce in 48 countries throughout Europe and Eurasia. It represents the interest of more than 17,000 American and European companies in Europe. The AmChams in Europe Best Practice Sharing Conference is traditionally hosted by an AmChams in Europe member and focuses primarily on the exchange of innovative ideas, projects, and best practices. Lisbon and its rich cultural heritage, history and connection to the world throughout time, provided a fitting backdrop for the gathering.
A big thank you to everyone at AmCham Portugal for hosting us!
